The Rescue Retreat was born from a simple belief: every dog deserves to feel safe and cared for during grooming. Too many grooming salons are loud, rushed, and stressful — especially for dogs who have already been through enough.
That's why I created a different kind of grooming experience. One dog at a time. One-on-one attention. A calm, comforting space where dogs feel at ease. And a philosophy that guides everything I do: helping through, not pushing through.
I work with dogs who require a little extra patience and TLC. Whether your dog is a rescue who needs to rebuild trust, a senior who needs gentle handling, or a puppy experiencing grooming for the first time — they're in qualified, caring hands.
Understanding the Unique Needs of Rescue Dogs
Rescue dogs frequently come from backgrounds marked by abuse or neglect. As a result, they may have specific needs and sensitivities when it comes to grooming.

Unlike most larger salons, I offer individualized, one-on-one appointments. This allows me to devote undivided attention to each dog, ensuring they receive the patience and care they need.
Manageable Sessions
We break up a full grooming session — which can be stressful and overwhelming — into two or more shorter, more manageable appointments. This is especially helpful for pups who need a full haircut, and those who find the high-velocity dryer too scary.
Never Pushed Through
Your dog will never be pushed through anything they are not prepared to handle. I offer affordable training packages to help them overcome their grooming fears — building positive associations at their own pace.

A Home Studio Designed for Calm
The Rescue Retreat operates out of a home studio in Lafayette, Indiana, off of 231 South — just 5 minutes south of McCutcheon High School. The home setting creates a naturally calmer environment than a busy commercial salon.
With one-on-one appointments, your dog is the only dog in the room. No barking from other dogs, no crowded waiting areas, no rushed schedule. Just a quiet, comforting space where your dog can relax and feel safe.
